Blankets

Installation was made for exhibition "CASTLES IN THE AIR", Moscow 2022

Shape of a blanket as it was when I was a child:

with a square hole in the duvet cover helps me tell a story

about childhood and memory.

The exhibition presents works from the new series "Labor Lessons". This is an embroidery on ceramics, the series appeared in isolation. The thirst for color has found its manifestation.

The theme of the exhibition Memory has been exciting for me since I became interested in the theories of memory. As you know, there are many of them and no one fully knows what memory is and how it works. Nowadays, memory is being studied as a way of building memories anew, and not as a place of storage, as it used to be. It has been established that each time we remember, we change the story a little. In the same way, storytellers change stories by retelling them over and over again. We are all story tellers.

In the Lessons of Labor series, I tell my story. Your fairy tale. I want to tell it like in a children's camp at night, in a hut made of blankets, one of those with diamonds on the duvet covers. In rhombuses, a thirst for color from the 1990s, lycra threads, embroidery from labor lessons. Now these stories are being folded into graphic drawings, although they are woven from individual images like threads.
